Can You Get Longshots on Shipment in MW4?
Yes — but barely, and only with the right guns. Shipment is the smallest map in Modern Warfare 4, and longshots are a distance challenge, so the map fights you from the start. Shotguns can do it. SMGs can do it on the longest angles. Assault rifles and snipers, realistically, cannot. Here is the full picture, class by class.
Why everyone asks this question
Shipment 24/7 is where MW4 players grind almost everything. It is fast, it is always populated, and camo challenges tick over quickly there — Hipfire, Point Blank, Mounted, all of it. So when the Longshot challenge shows up in the Special Camo list, the natural move is to keep queuing Shipment and wait for longshots to happen. They mostly do not happen, and that is why "can you get longshots on shipment" became one of the top searches around the game within days of the 23 October launch.
The problem is simple geometry. A longshot needs your kill to land past a set distance: 12 meters for shotguns, 20 for pistols, 30 for SMGs, 38 for assault rifles, LMGs and marksman rifles, 51 for snipers. Those are the player-tested figures — Infinity Ward has not published official ones, as we explain in the full MW4 longshot distance breakdown. Most of Shipment's fights happen inside 15 meters. The map simply runs out of room.
Class by class on Shipment
Shotguns (12m) — yes, genuinely. Twelve meters is nothing, even on Shipment. Take a long lane — across the central containers or down the side corridors — with slugs loaded, and shotgun longshots come at a steady rate. This is the one class where Shipment is a fine longshot map.
Pistols (20m) — sometimes. Twenty meters exists on Shipment, but you have to play for it: hold a corner-to-corner angle and take fights at the far end of a lane instead of pushing. It works, just slower than anywhere bigger.
SMGs (30m) — the edge case. Thirty meters is close to the longest sightline the map can offer. Diagonal angles across the map, container corner to container corner, can just clear it. Players do report SMG longshots on Shipment, but they come in ones and twos per match, not in bunches. The VEL 46 and ISO Nightshade help here because they stay accurate at the top of SMG range.
Assault rifles and LMGs (38m) — effectively no. There is no honest 38 meter lane on Shipment. You might fluke one across the longest diagonal with the target right at the far edge, but building a grind on it is a waste of evenings.
Sniper rifles (51m) — no. Fifty-one meters is longer than the map. Full stop.
How to squeeze the most out of Shipment anyway
If you are on Shipment regardless — and most grinders are, for the other challenges — do this. Run a slug shotgun as your longshot class and treat every long-lane fight as a longshot attempt. Swap to your SMG for the rest of the match and take the corner-to-corner angles when they appear, without forcing them. Accept that AR, LMG, marksman and sniper longshots are not happening here, and do not let one stuck challenge keep you on the wrong map for a week.
And use the map for what it is best at. Point Blank kills — kills at roughly 2 meters — are another Special Camo condition, and Shipment is the fastest Point Blank map in the game by a wide margin. The smart play is splitting the grind: Shipment for Point Blank and Hipfire, then a big map for Longshot. Our guide to the best maps and modes for longshots in MW4 covers where to take each class instead.
The honest bottom line
You can get longshots on Shipment with a shotgun, occasionally with a pistol or SMG, and that is where it ends. The question keeps trending because players want one map to do the whole camo list, and for this one challenge, it cannot. Take the longshot grind to Ground War, come back to Shipment for the close-range challenges, and both halves of the list move at full speed.
